Casual Works

Conclusion
To conclude this blog I'll give a brief summary on Casual Clothing at Work places. It is accepted at more professional places from what it seems. Retail companies need to be more accepting of it if they want to give off a professional vibe. A "Dress Code" should be implemented in the companies policies. A good example of a retail store doing it right would be Target. Their dress code is to look professional with a red top and beige bottoms. Gives a lot of room to work with.
Labor dependent work places such as warehouses and construction sites have safety policies which also allow the employee to be comfortable in their own attire. Some form of leniency needs to be present for a more individualized and professional approach to take place. Times are changing and a classier and more professional take on most uniforms needs to happen.

Personal Thoughts

My thoughts on Casual attire at the workplace are as follows:
- Uniforms are not professional if they are not customizable to some extent.
- You should be able to dress the way you want while meeting the workplace guidelines.
- Safety is importance, follow safety guidelines.
- Look presentable and classy.
- Your attire should show your interest in your position.
Changes: Acceptance in the Workplace
Times are changing, fashion is changing. Therefore, professional takes on attire is changing. As the seasons change, so does the way we present ourselves. Sports-jackets and dress shirts are the new Polo's and khaki's. Dressing more professional is what everyone aims for but some directions are wrong.
Professional= Dress shirts, pants and blazers. Polo's and jeans don't do it anymore in 2013/2014. Notice students in school. Majority of them dress better to school than they do at there jobs because of the polo and jean formula. Out dated does not equal professional. Always be on top of the latest dressy trends for business positions.
Questions
Do you agree that classier and more presentable uniforms are the future?

Dressing nice and knowing you look great when you step outside of your house is of the greatest feelings you can come across in this day and age. Many opportunities and judgements weigh on your appearances these days. Looking and dressing nice is an essential part of your job more so now than ever before. As always you need to look presentable in order to give off a vibe that shows your interest in your current job. It also makes you seem like a more intelligent worker.
Feeling great about the way you dress/look boosts up your self esteem and drive to work harder and better. Reason for this is because you are more positive and therefore take a more positive approach towards your work and co-workers. Higher self-esteem=happier worker=better quality of work. Dressing the way you want for work while meeting guidelines has never been more fun and simple than it has been the past few years.
QuestionsDoes being in your own professional skin make you feel more comfortable than when your'e forced into a regular uniform?

Disadvantages of Rejecting Casual Attire
The disadvantages of rejecting casual attire at a workplace go hand in hand with the Advantages. The worker feels no sense of individuality. Therefore the morale is declining. Going to a job that you might not be that happy with can turn into a job you might hate going to just because of the uniform you have to wear. Wearing the same attire everyday makes life seem dull and boring. It makes your routines feel more like a routine.
Every company is going for a professional look these days in marketing and in the workforce. But, looking professional needs to be done right. In my opinion, having a uniform isn't considered as professional as Business casual attire. A uniform shows a team of workers but doesn't necessarily show their individual professionalism. I believe that you need to show your professionalism your way while still meeting the workplaces guidelines.

Advantages of Casual Acceptance
Having a casual dress code has its advantages. The positive side to having a casual dress code is that both the employer and employee benefit from it. The employer gets the presentation of there workplace that they are working hard to achieve. The employee on the other hand, gets to make their workplace look great, look good in their employers eyes and get to wear clothes they want to wear that are acceptable.
Such policies also increase work morale because you're comfortable and you don't have to worry about how you look while making an impression because you're already wearing what you had picked out, making it an acceptable outfit. Making impressions on partners and workers is something you can achieve because you get to customize your own outfit. Wearing the same outfit everyday is boring, where as changing it up day to day makes your days seem better as well and feel like a new experience.
QuestionsWhat is your take on Business Casual Attire? Is not having a concrete uniform a good thing or bad thing?

Retail.
A lot of Retail locations require a uniform. A retail business is pretty much a store that sells goods to consumers. Uniform is key to retailers because it differentiates the associates from the customers. Uniforms should be able to clearly split the associate from the customer. I myself work at "Toys R Us" and the uniform is a bright red Polo shirt, with any black denim or khaki pants with black shoes.

The reason I emphasize uniform in this post is because the uniform leaves no room for casual clothes into your outfit. You cant customize anything. It's a set uniform that cannot be played around with unless you have intentions of getting written up.
